Ultherapy Aftercare: What to Expect, How to Care, and When to Contact SKINLAB

July 21, 2025

Thank you for choosing SKINLAB for your Ultherapy treatment! You’ve just taken an amazing step toward firmer, lifted, and more youthful skin—without surgery or downtime.

Ultherapy uses focused ultrasound energy to stimulate your body’s own collagen production deep beneath the skin. Because the treatment works below the surface, there’s little to no visible downtime—but proper aftercare can help you feel comfortable and support the best possible results.

Here’s what to expect, how to care for your skin, and when to reach out to us.

What to Expect After Ultherapy

Ultherapy has minimal downtime, but you may experience some temporary effects after your treatment:

  • Redness or mild swelling, typically fading within a few hours
  • Tenderness or sensitivity when touching the treated areas
  • Tingling, numbness, or slight bruising (less common)
  • A feeling of tightness or slight pressure beneath the skin
  • Gradual lifting and firming over 2–3 months, with continued improvement up to 6 months

These effects are normal and part of your skin’s collagen-building response.

Ultherapy Aftercare Instructions

✅ DO:

  • Use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer—keep the skin calm and hydrated
  • Apply SPF 30+ daily to protect the skin from UV exposure
  • Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and support collagen production
  • Resume normal activities right away—there’s no need to change your routine
  • Use cool compresses if needed for any swelling or warmth (avoid direct ice)

❌ AVOID for the First 24–48 Hours:

  • Harsh exfoliants, retinol, or acids on treated areas
  • Intense heat (hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms)
  • Strong facial massage or pressure on the treated area
  • High-intensity workouts if experiencing swelling or tenderness
  • Direct sun exposure—protect your skin as it heals

Common Side Effects (Temporary)

These are mild and typically resolve within a few hours to a few days:

  • Redness
  • Tenderness or sensitivity
  • Tingling, numbness, or mild bruising
  • Slight swelling or puffiness
  • A tight or “lifting” sensation under the skin

Rare Side Effects

These are very uncommon but may occur:

  • Prolonged swelling or bruising
  • Temporary nerve sensitivity (mild tingling or numbness)
  • Skin welts or rash (usually resolves within few days)
  • Prolonged discomfort or localized pain

When to Contact SKINLAB

Please contact us right away if you experience:

  • Increasing redness, swelling, or pain that worsens over time
  • Signs of infection (fever, heat, pus, or spreading redness)
  • Numbness or tingling that lasts longer than 1–2 weeks
  • Any skin discoloration or unusual reaction
  • Any concerns that don’t feel normal for your skin

Final Notes

Ultherapy is a non-invasive, collagen-boosting treatment with natural-looking, long-lasting results. Most clients see visible improvement in 2–3 months, with continued lifting and firming over 6 months.

For best results, we recommend yearly maintenance sessions and a consistent skincare routine with hydration, sun protection, and collagen-supporting ingredients.
