CO2 Fractional Laser Aftercare: What to Expect, How to Heal, and When to Contact SKINLAB

August 22, 2025

CO2 fractional laser is a powerful resurfacing procedure is one of the most effective options for improving skin tone, texture, wrinkles, acne scars, and overall radiance.

Because CO2 laser works by creating controlled micro-injuries in the skin to stimulate collagen and cell renewal, your skin will go through a healing process. Following proper aftercare is essential to support healing and achieve optimal results.

What to Expect After CO2 Laser Treatment

Healing times vary based on the intensity of your treatment and your skin type, but here’s what you can generally expect:

Days 1–3:

  • Redness, swelling, and a hot/sunburn-like sensation
  • Oozing, pinpoint bleeding, and skin sensitivity
  • Tightness and shiny or glazed appearance

Days 4–7:

  • Scabbing and peeling begins
  • Skin may feel dry and tight
  • Redness may persist as skin regenerates

Weeks 2–4:

  • Pinkness fades
  • New, smoother, brighter skin emerges
  • Residual redness may take a few weeks to completely fade
