What Is IPL?
IPL uses broad-spectrum light to target pigment (like sun spots and freckles) and vascular lesions (like redness, rosacea, or broken capillaries). These structures absorb the light and are naturally eliminated by your body over time, leaving your skin brighter and clearer.
What to Expect After IPL
Some mild and temporary skin responses are completely normal, especially in the first few days:
- Redness or warmth, similar to a mild sunburn, typically fades within 24–48 hours
- Darkening of pigmented spots, which may look like freckles or “coffee grounds” before flaking off
- Mild swelling or puffiness, especially around the eyes or cheeks
- Flaking or shedding of treated spots over 5–10 days
- Treated blood vessels may temporarily appear darker before fading
Results build over time and are most visible 7–14 days post-treatment, with continued improvement after each session.
